gtg or brb?
I've been doing the blog for a just under a week. I do like it but it's got a bit boring now so I'm going to take a break and I may start it up again if I feel like it. Though I probably won't. Thanks for all the support especially those from the Whoniverse Blog Jazzy, Time Traveller 42, The Dragons and JOV.
Let's Kill Hitler prequel due Monday
Reminds me of this picture link. |
A prequel to the first episode of Series 6 Part 2 'Let's Kill Hitler' will be released on the BBC Doctor Who Website this Monday. Three prequels were released before certain episodes during Series 6 Part 1 and all offered a taster for the episodes. To be honest I didn't think much of any of the previous ones but I'll watch this one out of interest as it bridges episode 7 and 8.

Review: Torchwood- First Born
Read this now! |
The story is written in the first person (Which I'm not always a fan of) with Gwen, Rhys and other characters giving their viewpoint alternating with each chapter. Gwen and Rhys's parts are written brilliantly and writer James Goss really captures the relationship that works so well on screen. The supporting characters are also well written from scientist Eloise to gay couple Tom and Josh. There is even a cameo from Jack Harkness or 'Uncle Jack' as he is referred to. There are plenty of adult moments that set it apart from the Doctor Who books like the scene with one of the 'children' and a hot bath and a rapist policeman. Providing lighter moments are baby Anwen and a plenty of humour from Rhys.
The conclusion may not really build up to much of a climax and I'm not too sure what the alien is but I really enjoyed the book and I found myself saying "Just one more chapter" towards the end. I will probably pick up the other two books 'Long Time Dead' and 'The Men Who Sold The World'. I'll give this book 7/10.

The wait is almost over. The second part of the thrilling new series of Doctor Who will soon return. In a hotel where walls move, corridors twist and rooms vanish, death lies waiting. But the Doctor’s time has yet to come. He has one last stop to make on his final journey – an old friend needs his help and an old foe must be defeated. Torchwood receives complaints for being "too Gay"
(Insert rude caption to do with sonic screwdrivers here.) |
It's too American! I miss Ianto! It's not as good as Children of Earth! These are just some of the complaints of fans I've seen and heard recently. Now the BBC have received complaints that the show is "too gay". This probably is due to the gay sex scene between omnisexual Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) and a bartender in episode 3 Dead Of Night. However the scenes were cut down for the UK so what are they complaining about? There are quite a few references to homosexuality but this is Torchwood created by Russell T Davies who will shoehorn innuendo or a gay character into every episode if he can and always has done so what do people expect. No one ever complains a show is too heterosexual...

Reasons We Love Doctor Who
2. Guest Stars |
Over the years Doctor Who has attracted lots of big names. Famous faces include John Cleese, Peter Kay, Sheila Hancock, Peter Capaldi, James Corden, Brian Blessed, Derek Jacobi, Martin Clunes, Kylie Minogue, Zoe Wanamaker, McFly, Alexei Sayle, Ken Dodd, Bill Nighy, Richard Briers, Toby Jones, Sir Michael Gambon and Anne Reid playing aliens, allies and cameo roles. Personally I'd like to see Jason Watkins who played Vampire Herrick in Being Human appear or Little Dorrit's Claire Foy. Is there any actor/actress you would like to see appear in the series?
Doctor Who Series 6 Part 2 Poster
'Past and Present Will Collide' reads the tagline of this brilliant new Doctor Who poster released by BBC America. The poster shows The Doctor, Amy, Rory and River with the face of a Slient in the background. The tagline must be referring to the finale which sees time become muddled up (that is the correct term) with Pterodactyl's, Roman Emperor Winston Churchill on his personal Mammoth and a Pyramid as Area 52. I really want to see Winston Churchill on a mammoth! Thanks to Den of Geek for this news.

Matt Smith defends "sexy" Amy Pond character
Wowzers! |
While speaking to The Metro (free on the train a good read) Matt Smith has said that having a "sexy" companion in Amy Pond adds another dimension to the show. He defended Amy's penchant for revealing outfits saying "What do people want Karen to dress in, a floor length skirt?". Smith said "Don't tell me Dad's at home don't go 'Ah, cool look Karen's on'-". The BBC received a few complaints after the bedroom in scene in Flesh and Stone last year with viewers claiming it was a "overtly sexual scene". Smith also brought up the point of the 4th Doctor's companion Leela wearing a "tight Tarzanian top" so Amy isn't the first. I have no complaints. I wonder if she'll dig out that Policewoman outfit again? *crosses fingers* Full article here.
Doctor Who question on In it to Win it
No that isnt a Auton it's Dale Winton. |
Whenever a Doctor Who question comes up on a quiz show it's a great moment for a Whovian to laugh at the silly person who dosent know the answer. This contestant however didn't know who played Amy Pond but she guessed correctly. Sadly in the end she failed to go home with any money. Watch the episode here.
New Series 6 Figures
Still no Rory figure. |
6 new figures from Wave 2 or Wave 1 C have appeared on eBay for sale. The figures are: The Astronaut, Uncle, Idris, Ganger Doctor, The Doctor in new shirt, River Song (from the Pandorica chair set) and they are all for sale on the online auction site before being available in shops. Each figure comes with a bag of flesh and a flesh mask (?). My advice would be to wait for them to become available in shops as the prices on some have gone beyond the shop price. Here is a link to the sellers eBay page. We still don't have a Rory figure grrrr. Thanks to http://www.thedoctorwhosite.co.uk/ for initial info.
